Reporting the relevant news should help, and is an important public service in general. If you’re tempted to distort, downplay, or over-emphasize certain facts out of fear of the effects on an election, you might want to reconsider who you’re supporting. It also has a good chance of backfiring: losing the trust of the audience means you won’t have as much of an audience in the future. I think the best thing you can do, as a news reporter, is be as honest and fair as you can.
